Our Focus

Education Advancement

SADCO established its scholarship program in 1996, our volunteers have raised and awarded more than $400,000 to help deserving Latino students obtain a post-secondary education. In 2015, we made another significant move towards helping students complete a university/college degree through a partnership with the Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF). Through the annual premier SADCO Scholarship Gala, we raise funds for the scholarship program while highlighting Colombian heritage.

Youth Enrichment

SADCO Friends of Colombia within the last decade has focused on fostering activities for Latino youth enrichment. In the recent years, SADCO has organized an international piano concert that allowed Latino youth Hoosiers to co-collaborate with Colombian youth and perform at a piano concert. Additionally, during the Christmas season we bring kids together to receive a gift and take a picture with Santa to alleviate economic hardships that some families might experience during the holiday season of giving.

LATINO CULTURE

In 2021, SADCO established the Latino Heritage Celebration as its signature Hispanic Heritage Month festivity. This annual celebration offers all who attend a chance to engage in diverse and traditional Latino cultural activities, and the opportunity to learn about the many contributions that Latino Hoosiers have made to Central Indiana. SADCO also serves as conveners of various topics and discussions relevant to the Latino community.

health & Food Security

During the COVID-19 pandemic, SADCO made the decision to add health and food security to it's mission. SADCO hosts food-drives and supports health campaigns set out by the Marion County Public Health Department. SADCO is registered as a COVID Community Ambassador through the City of Indianapolis. SADCO also organizes a Health Fair as part of the Latino Heritage Celebration
